Our Year 5 and Year 6 debating teams have done a wonderful job over the past few weeks participating in and preparing for debates.
Last Sunday at the LCAQD Synod convention, our school was presented with the T.T Reuter award for School Excellence.

The Chess Club is up and running! The students from Years 1-6 are enjoying the challenge and loving the time spent with friends, old and new, over a chess board.
Chess Club is starting at Bethany! Starting in Week 2 of next term, students from grades 1-6 are invited to join me in the Year 5 classroom on Mondays at lunchtimes.
Recently, Mrs Fong and Mr Pacek were invited to present at the Connecting Innovative School Learning Spaces and Pedagogy International Conference in Sydney.
On Thursday 14th February, 7 students were invited to participate in the Western Rangers District Swimming carnival.
If you have any novels/chapter books that your children no longer read and are thinking of giving them away, we would love you to donate them to Bethany’s Little Library: Street Library.
This past Sunday we had the amazing joy of coming together as a church and school family to celebrate our new principal and staff.
On Monday afternoon, Bethany competed in the Ipswich District Story Sports™ Competition with popular author, Brian Falkner.
Our day started off with our lovely bus driver, Mrs Lever, escorting us to the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), which was super-dooper fun!

On Tuesday, all students in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 were visited by Mrs Chris Killey, co-author of Words Their Way and a LEM Phonics Instructor.
Thank you to Prep staff and students for their Creation message at Bethany Church last Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many families there too.
On Tuesday 7th August, the Bethany School Community held our first Agile Learning Immersion Afternoon.
Last week on Wednesday 19th July and Thursday 20th July, 19 students represented Bethany at the Ipswich South and Ipswich North Zone Trial.
Bethany held their annual Sports Day on Thursday last week of Term 2. We were blessed with great weather, and had a wonderful day.
NAIDOC celebrations are held around Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
During Innovation time each week, the Year 3s have been studying the new Digital Technologies curriculum; exploring ways to represent data using the context of secret messages and codes.
EXCITING NEWS – Bethany has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Education Awards for 2018.
During Innovation time each week, the Year 5s have been working on STEAM projects.
On Thursday the 17th of May, the Year Ones went on an excursion in Ipswich.
This Term, we will be using our Chapel offering to support Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS).
In Year 2, students are enrolled in Typing Tournament and work through the program progressively throughout the school year.

In Term 1, we will be raising money that will help to sponsor the Swan Family as they embark on a mission trip to Papua New Guinea.
Last Monday, staff from St John’s Lutheran School Kingaroy joined us for a full day WTW/LEM WORKSHOP presented by Chris Killey from Melbourne.
During Term 3, students from Years 3-6 have been working hard on posters to advertise The Amazing Adventures of Superstan in Art.
On Wednesday evening at 6.00pm, the Grand Final for this year’s Debating Competition was held at WMAC.
On Wednesday evening, the Year 6 Debating Team contested the 5th Round.
As sponsors of the Innovative Schools Report 2017, Schoolbox and Digistorm are delighted to announce that Bethany Lutheran Primary School has been recognised as an Innovative School.
Each Friday this term, one of the Prep classes will visit the Kindy to build relationships and get to know each other.
On Tuesday and Wednesday last week, Susan Hawke from Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS), came and led some awareness days for the students at Bethany, about the work that the organization does in various countries all around the world.
Last Friday Year 2 had a special visitor Megan, from Bugs Ed come and visit the classroom.
The Year 4 students went to the Sciencentre on Monday, 15th of May.
On Wednesday 3rd May, the Year 4 students and teachers drove to Maroochydore for a 3 day camp.

What a wonderful learning experience it was for our students to witness 10 chickens hatching.

Last Thursday the Community Captains and Student Executives visited Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale to participate in the annual ALWS Awareness Day.

On Monday 14th August, the Year 3 Bethany students set out on their first school camp at Lake Moogerah.
On Saturday evening, the IDTL Network celebrated the launch and exhibition of the last story created by author and illustrator Narelle Oliver (1960 – 2016) at the Ipswich Community Gallery.

On Thursday, May 11th, the Year 2 students had a great time at Cooneana Heritage Centre.

The two days spent in Sydney visiting two very exciting schools and a number of businesses who have adopted an agile learning and spaces philosophy was both exciting and inspirational.

Wednesday morning Chapel service was a wonderful morning to celebrate and install our School Leaders and Seniors for 2017.

On Monday 31st October, more than 300 Grandfriends joined us for our annual Grandfriends' and Grandparents' Day.

On Sunday 21st of August Year 6A shared a presentation with the Grace Church congregation.
Bethany Kindergarten celebrated their 10 year Anniversary on Saturday 13th August.
Last week in Prep we began harvesting some of our vegetables and herbs from our Bunnings and Plants Plus garden.
The Year 1 classes loved their visit from the Ripley Fire Station!
The Prep classes visited the Ipswich Art Gallery. We saw the exhibition "Drawing Machines".
