Love - Wellbeing

At Bethany Lutheran Primary School, we are committed to fostering the wellbeing of our students, staff, and community. This year, we are excited to launch our comprehensive new wellbeing program, Thrive Together. This initiative is designed to nurture emotional, spiritual, and mental health, creating a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered environment.

What does Thrive Together include?

For Students:

  • Safe Spaces Anti-Bullying Initiative: Actively promoting respect, inclusion, and kindness.

  • Self-Sense Subject: Teaching emotional literacy, resilience, and regulation through the Rock and Water framework.

  • Student Profiles: Microcredential badges to help students recognise and celebrate their strengths.

  • Circle Time: A daily opportunity for students to share feelings and connect during Morning Devotions.

  • Zones of Regulation and Social Stories: Tools to help students manage emotions and develop social skills.

  • Prayer Space: A place to reflect, pray, and share emotions anonymously for mutual support.

  • Break Time Check-Ins: Ensuring students feel supported throughout the day.

  • Mental Health Initiative: Based on the Beyond Blue Framework.

  • Buddy Program: Building connections across year levels (Kindy/Prep with Years 5/6).

  • Service Learning: Opportunities to serve others through Christian Studies.

  • Pastoral Care Learning Assistant: Supporting students with movement breaks and emotional regulation.

For Teachers and Learning Assistants:

  • Tailored sessions focused on supporting young people in a personalised and meaningful way.

  • Workshops on emotional literacy, resilience, and strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students.

Wellbeing Program:

  • Highlighting moments that matter—special activities, many of them surprises, to bring joy and a sense of community to the school.

  • Encouraging work-life balance through streamlined processes and a workload management system.

DISC Profiles:

  • Helping staff understand their own strengths and communication styles.

  • Strengthening teamwork by fostering greater empathy and collaboration.

Increased Planning Time:

  • Creating more opportunities for teachers to plan collaboratively.

  • Dedicated time for developing engaging, differentiated lessons that meet student needs.

English Program Development:

  • Our Director of Learning has created the scope and sequences, unit plans, yearly overviews, and success criteria for teachers to resource.

  • This approach significantly reduces teacher workload, allowing them to focus on delivering engaging and effective lessons.

Team Teaching:

  • Encouraging teachers to collaborate in the classroom, providing support and sharing expertise to enhance student learning.

Weekly Planning Meetings:

  • Teachers have a weekly meeting with our Director of Learning to receive personalised support for planning.

  • These sessions focus on curriculum alignment, differentiation strategies, and creating impactful learning experiences for students.

Opportunities for Classroom Observations:

  • Teachers will have regular opportunities to observe each other teach, gaining new ideas, strategies, and inspiration for their own practice.

  • Observation feedback will focus on celebrating strengths and identifying ways to enhance learning experiences for students.

For the Community:

  • Safe Online Spaces: Educating students and families about online safety and promoting responsible digital citizenship.

  • Allied Health Support: Continued partnerships with psychologists, speech therapists, and other professionals.

  • Parent Engagement: We are participating in an ISQ program to strengthen family connections.

  • Life Together Family Workshops: Helping families grow in faith and wellbeing.

  • Wellbeing Surveys: Gathering feedback from parents, staff, and students to continually improve.

Why Thrive Together?

Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where every individual feels loved, valued, and supported. By working together—students, staff, and families—we can create a community that truly thrives.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact Thrive Together will have on our school and invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
