Living Our Strategic Direction: Love in Action at Bethany

One of the four intentions in Bethany’s Strategic Direction is Love. At Bethany, love is lived through our relationships, our care for one another, and the intentional systems we put in place so that every child, staff member, and family feels safe, known, and valued.

We define the school value of Love as demonstrating compassion and consideration, and offering grace and forgiveness to others, grounded in the love of God, self, and others. Throughout 2026, this intention is being expressed in practical ways across our school community.

Our faith life continues to be nurtured through Messy Church, with the addition of two Praise Picnics this year. These gatherings create welcoming spaces for families to connect, worship, and engage with faith together. We are also strengthening the connection between Christian Studies and service learning, helping students live out their faith through action in the community.

Our Self Sense wellbeing program continues to flourish. All students participate in a weekly Self Sense specialist lesson, along with a full-day Self Sense workshop each term. Through this program, students build emotional literacy, resilience, and self-regulation using evidence-based approaches such as Rock and Water and Zones of Regulation. These skills support students to understand themselves, manage emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy relationships.

We continue to strengthen safe and caring relationships across the school through the implementation of the Bullying Safe Spaces Guidebook, the embedding of the National Child Safe Standards, and the establishment of Circle Time as a core Thrive practices throughout the year. These approaches support empathy, student voice, and a strong sense of belonging.

Beyond the classroom, we are deepening connection with families and the wider community through the launch of Bethany’s Flourish Framework, ongoing listening to family voice, and initiatives that strengthen communication, inclusion, and community wellbeing.
