Learning is Stronger Together – Partnering with Families at Bethany
At Bethany, we know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. It happens in the car on the way home, at the dinner table, and in the quiet moments when your child shares what they’re proud of, confused by, or excited about.
That’s why parent engagement in learning is a big focus for us this year.
The research is clear — when parents are engaged in their child’s learning:
- Children achieve more academically
- They have better social and emotional wellbeing
- They feel more confident, motivated, and positive about school
- They are more likely to see learning as meaningful
And this isn’t about doing more homework or attending every event. It’s about feeling connected to what your child is learning, knowing how they’re going, and having simple ways to support and encourage them along the way.
Here’s what we’ve focused on this year:
- We’ve introduced fortnightly learning snapshots to give you a clear picture of what your child is learning in real time.
- Each snapshot includes conversation starters — simple questions you can ask at home to help your child reflect and share more meaningfully.
- We’ve strengthened how we use Seesaw, so you can see your child’s learning progress as it happens. You can access a detailed explanation of how to use it through Parent Lounge.
- We’ve gathered your feedback through surveys on homework, reporting and learning conferences, and are using that input to make things more purposeful and easier to engage with.
- We’ve moved from the old P&F model to Friends of Bethany, creating new ways for parents to be involved in school life — with a focus on community connection and involvement.
Our goal isn’t to add more to your plate. It’s to help you feel informed, included, and empowered to support your child’s learning journey — in whatever way works for your family.
