2025 Year 6 Captains' Legacy Projects
Our Year 6 leaders have officially launched their Legacy Projects—thoughtful, creative initiatives designed to reflect their leadership roles and leave a lasting impact on our Bethany community.
Each project has been shaped with the guidance of a staff mentor and supported through conversations with key staff across the school. We are incredibly proud of the courage, teamwork, and imagination our students have shown. Their ideas were presented with confidence and clarity last week to both myself and Mr Schneider—and we’re thrilled to say that every project has been approved!
Here’s a snapshot of what’s to come:
School Captains (Mentor: Mrs McConnell)
- Redesigning the Year 6 leadership badges to better reflect student identity and pride
- Launching weekly Monday morning loudspeaker announcements to highlight key events
Sustainability Captains (Mentor: Mrs Hodge)
- Leading a whole-school Sustainability Week with hands-on classroom activities
- Introducing a new initiative: each year level will maintain and care for its own garden bed
Arts Captains (Mentor: Mrs Clifford)
- Designing an outdoor mural that celebrates all Bethany musicals, using student artwork
Wellbeing Captains (Mentor: Mrs Lergesner)
- Hosting a Week of Wellbeing centred on art therapy—mindful mandalas, clay sculpture and more
Engagement Captains (Mentor: Mrs Spilsbury)
- Coordinating a Father’s Day sausage sizzle to build community connections
- Hosting three Friday discos in Term 3 to spark joy and student engagement
Worship Captains (Mentor: Mrs Kozak)
- Launching a weekly Worship Club to teach worship dances in the Hub
- Leading worship dances during Wednesday Worship to enhance student participation in faith life
House Captains (Mentor: Mrs Knight)
- Purchasing sports balls for classroom use during breaks
- Running a mentoring week for Prep and Year 1 in Term 4 to introduce the new equipment
A huge thank you to our incredible mentors and the support staff who are helping bring these ideas to life. Most of all, we celebrate our student leaders. Their heart, commitment, and creativity are already making a difference—and they are leaving a legacy future Bethany students will build on.
We can’t wait to see it all come to life.
