National Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 Testing
Written by Mr Schiller
Friday, 16 May 2008

This week children throughout Australia sat these National tests. They were aligned with the National Curriculum rather than the Queensland Curriculum. By 2010 it is anticipated that this will have changed. However, the testing is a positive experience for students and gives them an opportunity to learn what it is like to participate in a formal test situation. Strict guidelines are adhered to for these tests. The same wording for instructions is used in all the classrooms across the nation.

SPORTS DAY HELPERS NEEDED

To run sports day successfully we require the help of parents. In the morning from 8:40-12 noon (recess 10:20-10:40) the tabloid events are held. There are 9 stations and we need 2 parents at each station. In the afternoon, there are the championship sprints and relays. For this a starter and 3 timekeepers are needed.

If you are able to help, please let Janet know at the office.

Sports Day Change of Date
Written by Mr Schiller
Friday, 16 May 2008

It has come to our attention that the final for the netball will fall on Friday 20th June.  One of our teams in all probability may make the final as they are as yet undefeated.

For the sake of those students and in support of the schools in the competition staff has decided to move the sports day to THURSDAY 19TH JUNE - the day before.

I trust all families will understand and if you have made work arrangements to be there on the Friday, hopefully this notice is early enough to make the change to Thursday.

PrepS visits the officePrepS visits the office

On Thursday 24th April the Prep S class visited Raceview Post Office.

We posted the invitations to our grandparents for Grandparents Day in June and listened to a talk by Ray. He told us about all the jobs they have to do in the Post Office and how they sell packages and boxes to post things in.  You can pay bills at the post office and buy gifts as well. The train clock on the wall was a highlight. We also popped into the bakery and the butcher.

Thank you to all the parents who came along to help supervise the children.

What Do You Crave? (Week 5)
Written by Pastor John
Friday, 16 May 2008

An emperor was coming out of his palace for his morning walk when he met a beggar.  He asked the beggar, "What do you want?"  The beggar laughed and said, "You are asking me as though you can fulfil my desire!"  The king was offended.  He said, "Of course I can fulfil your desire.  What is it?  Just tell me."  And the beggar said, "Think twice before you promise anything."
