Year 6 Captains to Imagination Conference

March 13, 2017

On Monday 13th March, the school captains Dakota, Aeon , Amitie, Abigail, Oliver & Hayley attended the Halogen Imagination Conference Leadership Day. It was an exciting day for everyone, starting with a train ride into the city. Amitie and Dakota were particularly excited about having the opportunity to use a train into the city.

Upon arrival the students were greeted with lively music, pumping them up for a day of discussions with some highly inspirational leaders. The first of these inspirational speakers was ‘Sam Skinner’. She helped all students to discover their own core values. Many of the leaders included values of respect, teamwork and honesty among their top values.

The next speaker, Jade Hameister, taught an important message of choosing bravery over perfection. Through her lecture the leaders learnt to give themselves permission to fail and to not limit themselves.

Other speakers who gave advice throughout the day included Hamish Finlayson, Danielle Prince, Inspector Cory Allen & Robbie Miller. Their discussions continued to encourage the leaders to: never give up, be prepared and never be afraid of taking risks.

The day was a huge success, with each of our leaders walking away with practical advice that will not only serve them well as leaders of Bethany Lutheran Primary School, but for the rest of their lives.
