Ipswich District Primary Schools’ Debating Competition

August 23, 2017

On Wednesday evening at 6.00pm, the Grand Final for this year’s Debating Competition was held at WMAC. At the Year 6 Level, Bethany Team debated the Affirmative Case in the topic, “Imagination is more important than Knowledge”. Bethany won the debate by a narrow margin; all students from both teams performed magnificently. They have all grown greatly throughout the competition and have not only developed their skills in researching, writing and supporting arguments, but their ability to speak confidently and clearly to an audience has skyrocketed. The Team have worked very well supporting each other in their preparation for each debate and now have a far greater appreciation of what it means to be a team member. Both teams had their efforts acknowledged by receiving a medallion and a certificate. Thank you to the student’s parents for the support that they gave their children and for bringing them to the debates. Well done, everyone!
